Suomi.fi - everyday life and public services in Finland

The Suomi.fi public services portal has been released in a renewed expanded version. Suomi.fi offers citizens, business and authorities reliable public sector information and links to public services under a single web address.

The portal is released in Finnish, Swedish and English.

The amount of descriptive texts about public services has been strongly increased from the previous version. The various subjects in the portal are now given a wider, more coherent and concrete treatment.

Besides the subject pages, theme content has also been added. The young and the elderly have their own info pages and the Finnish version includes a special page for sign language users. A section for businesses has been created in cooperation with EnterpriseFinland.fi. The general information section, Functioning of the Public Administration and Finland Essentials, have been retained in the new version.

The renewed Suomi.fi also promotes public sector eServices. The formerly autonomous Lomake.fi and Asiointiopas.fi sites have been merged with Suomi.fi. Their contents are now in the eServices and Forms section of the portal. Instructions for using eServices are also in this section.

Also the formerly also autonomous web quality information site Laatuaverkkoon.fi has been merged into Suomi.fi in this manner, into the section titled Quality to the Web.

The new Suomi.fi has more local information than before. The portal offers contact information for every local authority in Finland, along with statistical information for each municipality. Local information can be found using both text searches and a map-based graphic search.

Selected acts and decrees from the current Finnish legislation database Finlex will continue to be available in Suomi.fi as before. The same applies for the public sector contact information directory JULHA.

The Suomi.fi editorial team is located at the Government Information Management Unit at the Ministry of Finance. Maintenance and development work with Suomi.fi's links and text content is done in cooperation with a network from public and third sector organisations.

The technical cooperation network behind Suomi.fi is made up of Onesta Solutions (application, CMS), Edita Prima (integration between Finlex and Suomi.fi) and Elma Electronic Trading (eServices and forms). Local information comes to Suomi.fi from the information systems of the Finnish Association of Local and Regional Authorities.
