Presidential candidates meet the international press

The President of the Republic of Finland will be elected in January. The election day is on Sunday, 15 January, and the possible second round of voting will take place on Sunday, 29 January.

Presidential candidates will meet the international press in events organised by the Department for Communication and Culture of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The meetings will be broadcast live on the Ministry´s website.

The presidential press events will be launched by Heidi Hautala, the Green League, Timo Soini, the True Finns Party, and Tarja Halonen, the Social Democratic Party, on Monday, 9 January. On Tuesday, 10 January, the floor will be taken by Matti Vanhanen, the Centre Party, and Bjarne Kallis, the Christian Democrats in Finland. On Wednesday, 11 January, Henrik Lax, the Swedish People´s Party, will meet the press, followed by independent Arto Lahti on Thursday, 12 January, and Sauli Niinistö, the National Coalition Party, on Friday, 13 January.
