Finnish Estonian author and playwright Sofi Oksanen’s star-making work Purge opens in New York, becoming part of the city’s Off-Off-Broadway legacy.
During the four years since Oksanen’s story of brutality, betrayal and longing in Soviet-occupied Estonia premiered at the Finnish National Theatre, Purge has carved out a lasting place within Finland’s cultural hall of fame. It continues to make a splash internationally.
