"Women as Actors of Change" is a one year project that aims to enhance women's political participation on the local level. Mainly, the project focuses on women's participation in the local councils. With this regard, the project will seek to increase women's participation in the coming local councils in four governorates: Cairo, Giza, Beni Suef and Alexandria. This is in line with Egypt Constitutions that allocates 25% of seats inside the local councils for women in order to reach gender balance in decision making cycle on the local level. With this regard, the project will work on: - Encourage community support for women candidates: different actors will be targeted like civil society organizations, media, political parties, and community members ….etc. - Enhance the capacity and skills of women politicians to be able to run elections' campaigns, build constituencies and mobilize their communities. - To enhance the capacity and skills to women politicians / female local councils' members to define women's needs and respond to these needs. - To encourage women politicians to introduce themselves to their local communities as actors of change.
