Tahrir Square on 20 November
Reports and pictures about events in Tahrir Square in Cairo are alarming but this does not yet mean a recurrence of the events seen earlier this year, Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja writes in his blog. Minister Tuomioja visited Egypt, Tunisia and Libya on 20–23 November.

The revolutions in the Arab countries not over yet
“Now we need more deeds than words,” said Egyptian activist Esraa Abdel Fattah in the debate concerning the turmoil of the Arab world organised by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in the SuomiAreena event in Pori. The other participants in the debate were President Martti Ahtisaari, and BBC special correspondent Lyse Doucet. The discussion was chaired by Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja.

Where are you heading, the Arab world?
A thriving democracy or an old oligarchy with new leaders? No one can know what will be the final outcome of the popular uprisings in the Arab countries. This was the opinion shared by the participants in the open discussion organised by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs at the House of the Estates on Monday, 4 April. In the event, Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb and Finnish ambassadors expressed their views of the happenings in the Arab World.
