The Ministry for Foreign Affairs arranged the second open hearing session concerning EU-US trade negotiations

The negotiations concerning the EU-US Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership were launched in June 2013. The third round of negotiations was conducted in December 2013 and the fourth round will be held on 10−14 March in Brussels.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs held the second open hearing session concerning the negotiations on Wednesday 29 January. In the event, the Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb took stock of the current situation of the negotiations and Finland's key goals. Furthermore, the Minister announced that he will travel to the United States at the beginning of April to meet, for example, with U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman, who is the main negotiator for the U.S. in the trade negotiations.

Other speakers at the event included Kristiina Helenius, CEO, American Chamber of Commerce in Finland (Amcham Finland); Olli Koski, Chief Economist, Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions SAK; and Jarmo Virtanen, Managing Director, Efla Oy.

The next hearing session on the subject will be held at the beginning of April.
