Minister for Foreign Affairs Soini to lead a Team Finland visit to Argentina and Uruguay

Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini will visit Uruguay and Argentina from 22 to 27 March.

Minister Timo Soini will meet Minister of Foreign Affairs Rodolfo Nin Novoa in Montevideo and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Faurie in Buenos Aires.

Argentina and Uruguay offer wide and attractive export prospects for Finnish companies. The Ministers' discussions will focus on the countries' economic cooperation, the EU free trade negotiations with Mercosur, and topical political questions.

In Argentina, the Ministers will discuss Argentina's G20 Presidency and, related to that, the prospects in the global economy and in the cooperation in the education sector.

In addition, Minister Soini will speak about the importance of the rules-based international system in the current world political situation at the Council for International Relations (CARI). Soini will also open a bioeconomy seminar, which will present Finnish bioeconomy expertise.

The agenda of the visit will include meetings with ministers from different sectors and visits to Finnish companies in the forest industry.

The Minister will be accompanied by representatives of the Natural Resources Institute Finland Luke and companies from the bioeconomy, energy, connectivity and meteorology sectors.  The business delegation will include representatives from Nokia, Wärtsilä, Vaisala, Pöyry, Arbonaut and Ponsse.
