Finnish KFOR battalion will be strengthened for elections

The President of the Republic and the Finnish government decided in their joint foreign and security council meeting on Friday, 17 August, that the Finnish KFOR battalion in Kosovo will be strengthened for the duration of the parliamentary elections on 17 November.

At the request of the Nato headquarters, Finland is prepared to strengthen its KFOR battalion with one company. The reinforcement will take place in connection with the scheduled relief date on 4 October as the duties of the present peacekeepers will be extended by two months from 5 October until 4 December.
