Romanian Foreign Minister Mircea Dan Geoana to Finland on 11.9.

The Foreign Minister of Romania Mircea Dan Geoana will visit Finland on Tuesday, September 11 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja. The ministers will discuss primarily the enlargement of the European Union and the access negotiations with Romania, the situation in the West-Balkans and the European security. Romania holds the precidency of the Organisation for European Security and Cooperation in 2001.

Foreign Minister Geoana will also meet with President Tarja Halonen and Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen. Minister Geoana will also give a speech at a seminar arranged by the Finnish Committee for European Security and Cooperation (STETE) at the room of the Grand Committee of the Parliament from 15.00 to 16.00. The seminar is open to the media.

After their discussions the foreign ministers will give a joint press conference at 12.00 in the House of the Estates, Snellmaninkatu 9-11.

There is also a photo opportunity in the beginning of the meeting with the Prime Minister at 9.45 at the Council of State and in the beginning of the meeting with the President in the presidential palace at 13.45 ( accreditation, tel 661 133/Miia Lahti).
