New Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers visits Finland

Dagfinn Høybråten, the newly appointed Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, is visiting Finland on 24–25 April.

On Wednesday, 24 April, Secretary-General Høybråten will meet with Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen and will have a working lunch with Minister for Nordic Cooperation Alexander Stubb. The agenda for discussion includes, among others, the development of Nordic cooperation, the budget of the Nordic Council of Ministers and freedom of movement between the Nordic countries.

In the afternoon, the Secretary General will visit Nordic institutions in Helsinki, including the Nordic Culture Point, the Nordic Investment Bank, the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO), the Nordic Project Fund (Nopef) and the Nordic Development Fund (NDF).

On Thursday, 25 April, Secretary General Høybråten wll meet Simo Rundgren, chairman of the Finnish delegation to the Nordic Council, and will have talks with Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja. The issues to be discussed are, among others, the activities of the Nordic Council of Ministers in neighbouring areas and follow-up of the Nordic Council Theme Session in Stockholm, including the broad concept of security, joint action in civilian crisis management and cyber security.
