Czech Republic

Restrictions in the Czech Republic (12.3.2020)

  • Theater, music, film, cultural and sport events, exhibitions, markets and religious gatherings with more than 30 people at a time are prohibited from Friday (13.3.2020) (6 AM).
  • From Saturday (14.3.2020 - 00:00) Foreigners from China, South Korea, Iran, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Norway, Sweden, France, Belgium, Holland, Great Britain and Switzerland are forbidden to enter the Czech territory.
  • Borders between the Czech Republic and Germany + the Czech Republic and Austria can be crossed at 11 crossings (Germany: Strážný, Pomezí nad Ohří, Rozvadov, Folmava, Železná Ruda, Krásný les, Hora sv. Šebestiána. Austria: Dolní Dvořiště, České Velenice, Hatě, Mikulov)
  • All schools are closed except kindergartens
  • The Czech National Heritage Institute (NPU) closed all state-run castles, chateaux and other heritage sites with all-year operation as of today and postponed the start of the main season indefinitely over new coronavirus
  • All state-subsidised organisations managed by the Culture Ministry, which means galleries, libraries, museums and heritage sites, will be closed due to the novel coronavirus
  • All persons who do not have permanent or temporary residence in the Czech Republic or who do not work there are obliged to endure the control of symptoms of infectious diseases after entering the Czech Republic. If signs of an infectious disease are found, they are obliged to assist healthcare professionals in the collection of the samples. Furthermore, they are obliged to tolerate restrictions on the freedom of movement during the laboratory examination of the samples.

Slovak Republic

Restrictions in the Slovak Republic (12.3.2020)

  • Introducing border controls (and maintaining only large border crossing points). Border crossings from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria and Ukraine. The restrictions will not affect the crossings with Poland
  • All three international airports are being closed.
  • Stopping of international transport except supply. 

     

  • Only Slovak citizens and people with permanent or temporary residence in Slovakia will be allowed to enter Slovakia. However, these persons will have to go to a 14-day quarantine.

    Exceptions will apply to people living in neighboring countries and commuting daily to Slovakia or vice versa. These persons will preferably be released across borders, but it is necessary to obtain a certificate of employment from the employer.

  • Mandatory quarantine for people coming from risk areas.
  • Closing of schools and school facilities.
  • Closure of social and cultural facilities.
  • Limited shopping center operations (only groceries, medicines and drugstores will be available during the weekend).
  • Bars, restaurants, ski resorts and wellness centers and water parks will be closed.
  • National trains will operate in holiday mode.
  • Passenger train, bus and ship transport will also be restricted. Details will be provided by the Department of Transport.

  • Public authorities will handle people only three hours a day. The number of people in offices will regulate.

  • From Friday (13.3.2020) bars, wellness centers, water parks, ski resorts, children's play areas, night bars, casinos and entertainment centers will be closed.

  • Shopping centers will be closed during the weekend, with the exception of food, drugstores and pharmacies.

  • The ban on visits to social homes and the ban on cultural, sporting and public events remain in force.

  • 14-day quarantine applies for all those returning from Italy, China, Iran and South Korea (penalty for breaking the quarantine is up to € 1650)
  • The Central Crisis Staff officially banned public events throughout the country since 10 March, sport matches are also canceled
  • for two weeks there will be no public mass in churches in Slovakia
