Finland and Cyprus have similar views about the challenges in the Mediterranean and the Middle East

In their meeting, Foreign Ministers of Finland and Cyprus discussed the situation in Cyprus and its neighbourhood. In addition to interior and international issues of Cyprus, the topics on the agenda included Syria and the Middle East. The Ministers also discussed the forthcoming EU Presidency of Cyprus and the importance of promoting the status of women and the international Arms Trade Treaty.

Foreign Minister of Cyprus Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis met with Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja on 10 May. The discussions were described as productive and useful and the both Ministers were happy about the smooth cooperation between the two countries.

Kozakou-Macoullis and Tuomioja also work together in the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

Kozakou-Marcoullis met with President Sauli Niinistö, Speaker of Parliament Eero Heinäluoma, Chair of the Parliamentary Grand Committee Miapetra Kumpula-Natri and Chair of the Parliamentary Finnish-Cyprian friendship group, Member of Parliament Satu Haapanen.
