At the second workshop of the fourth annual Startups4peace event on 22 September 2018, we learned about pitching. Our speaker today was Valto Loikkanen, a successful entrepreneur in his own right. The event was organized in co-operation between the Finnish Embassy, the European Commission, Startup Cyprus and the Chambers of Commerce of Cyprus and Turkish Cypriots. The workshop was opened by the Finnish Ambassador Timo Heino and by Arttu Mäkipää, Director of the Commission's Office in Nicosia.

Startups4Peace brings together entrepreneurs from the Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities and encourages them to create joint innovative startups. The aim of the program is to emphasize co-operation and thereby increase trust and dialogue between communities. Also, startup awareness is still very much needed on the whole island. The event is already well-known and, for example, UN's UNFICYP peacekeeping mission is interested in co-operation with it.

The two most successful teams will be sent to the Slush event in Helsinki on 4-5 December.
