Finland has again joined the contributors to the UN Peacebuilding Fund, making a contribution of EUR 3 million in 2020. Supporting the Peacebuilding Fund reaffirms Finland's long-term commitment to and cooperation with the UN in conflict prevention, mediation and peacebuilding.

With this year being the 75th anniversary of the UN, preventing conflict and sustaining peace are even more important than before. The Peacebuilding Fund is a key instrument of the UN to promote peaceful, just and inclusive societies  in accordance with the 2030 Agenda.

Finland considers it important that the Fund focuses on the participation of women, young people and marginalised groups in peacebuilding.

Finland was among the first contributors to the Peacebuilding Fund when it was established in 2006.
