Nordic foreign ministers to meet during Nordic Council Session

The 74th Ordinary Session of the Nordic Council will be held in Helsinki from 31 October to 3 November. Minister for Foreign Affairs Haavisto will attend a hearing of foreign ministers at the Plenary of the Nordic Council and a meeting of Nordic foreign ministers (N5) on 2 November.

In the N5 meeting, the Nordic foreign ministers will discuss topical foreign and security policy questions, such as energy security, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, multilateral Nordic cooperation and Africa. 

In addition, Foreign Minister Haavisto will attend a meeting between the Presidium of the Nordic Council and the Nordic foreign ministers and the representatives of the autonomous areas. The meeting will discuss Nordic cooperation. 

“It is important to discuss topical matters with our closest partners. Nordic cooperation is now more important than ever before, and our common values give a firm basis for promoting cooperation in areas such as energy security and crisis preparedness,” Minister Haavisto says.
