More than 1600 young people competed for places at Millennium Youth Camp

The participants have now been chosen for the Millennium Youth Camp, which will be held in the Helsinki metropolitan area in June. The camp has the twin goals of raising interest among young people in the natural sciences, mathematics and technology and of highlighting the opportunities for study at Finnish universities.

The third Millennium Youth Camp will be held on 9 – 16 June 2012. Altogether 1,620 young people aged 16–19 years from all continents applied for this popular camp. The 30 talented teens chosen for camp include two Finns.

From the middle of April onwards, the Millennium Youth Camp website will publish a blog, “The Road to the Millennium Youth Camp”, where a few bloggers, chosen from different parts of the world, will report on their preparations for the camp, on their expectations and on progress in their projects.

During the same week as the camp the fifth Millennium Technology Prize will be awarded. One of the highlights of the camp will be when the campers meet the Prize winners on 14 June at Otaniemi, when the young people will be able to discuss issues with leading experts in the field of technology.

Visits to the camp by reporters are welcome.

The principal organisers of the camp are the Technology Academy Finland and The national LUMA Centre.
