Covid-19 situation in mainland China
China has given up its strict zero policy regarding the Covid pandemic. At the same time, the country's COVID situation is going through an unprecedented phase as the virus spreads fast in the population. The authorities have in principle given up on tracking the positive cases. The Chinese authorities have announced that a person positive for Covid-19 should remain in home quarantine. It is recommended to go to the hospital only if the symptoms are severe. People mainly test the COVID by home tests. According to the recommendations, quarantine and self-monitoring can be finished when there are no more symptoms and or when the person has had at least two negative COVID test results. However, the situation and restrictions may still change suddenly and unpredictably. The challenge could be the inadequacy of healthcare capacity and the weakness of the population's immunity defense against COVID. It may still be required to present the local health code application and a negative PCR or antigen test result when visiting public premises.
