Foreign Minister Tuomioja met Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Song Tao, who visited Finland

The affairs on the agenda of the meeting between Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja and Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Song Tao on 29 October included enhancement of bilateral relations between Finland and China, the economic situation of the eurozone and, as regards questions of international politics, Syria and the nuclear weapons issue of Iran. The Ministers considered it important to develop cooperation within the arenas of, for example, economy and student exchange. The high-level visits planned between the countries after the change of leadership in China were also discussed.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Song, responsible for Sino-European relations, visited Finland in order to conduct the regular talks between the Ministries for Foreign Affairs with Secretary of State Pertti Torstila. During his visit, he also met Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb and participated in a seminar organised by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
