The Embassy of Finland in Bern is looking for an advisor for commercial and economic affairs to be employed locally for a period of two years as of 1 June 2019 or as agreed.

The advisor will be in charge of matters related to the Finnish-Swiss bilateral commercial and economic cooperation, acting as the Team Finland coordinator in Switzerland. He/she will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on matters related to the commercial and economic trends in Switzerland as well as dealing with other Embassy tasks as necessary.

We are looking for a person with a graduate-level degree who is experienced in dealing with commercial and economic assignments and is interested in political/social issues as well. Knowledge of the Swiss market as well as familiarity with Finnish export businesses is especially desirable. Acting as a Team Finland coordinator requires initiative and the ability to come up with concrete measures for achieving the goals set for Team Finland activities both independently and in cooperation with other Team Finland actors. The applicant is also expected to have good communication skills, flexibility and a capacity for working both individually and in a team.

Excellent written and oral skills in German, English and Finnish are required from the applicant. Knowledge of French and Swedish languages is also of advantage.

The advisor will be hired on terms applied to locally hired employees of the Embassy, meaning that the contract will be governed by Swiss law. A security clearance will be carried out on the successful applicant with his/her consent in accordance with the Security Clearance Act 726/2014.
