Advance voting in Canada in the Finnish presidential election of 2018
In the presidential election of 2018, advance voting will be organized in Canada in the first round of election from January 17 to 20, 2018. If a second round is organized, the advance voting period will be from January 31 to February 3, 2018

Ambassador Vesa Lehtonen's greeting to Finnish Canadians
This year has been an important year for both Canada and Finland with big celebrations. 2017 has been full of events and projects marking Canada 150 and Finland 100. Both countries welcomed the celebratory year with festive fireworks when the year changed. Canada's jubilee year culminated in Canada Day and now we are approaching Finland’s Independence Day, December 6th.

Companies must register to benefit from tariffs in exports to Canada
The Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada will remove tariffs on the majority of goods. This means that customs duties will be mainly eliminated on goods originating in the EU exported to Canada. To become a beneficiary of the preferential tariffs starting from 1 January 2018, companies must have registered in the Registered Exporter System (the REX system).

Nordic Studies Initiative in Canada launched in Toronto
This fall the prestigious Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto started up a new Nordic Studies Initiative with co-financing from the Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM). It is the first time ever that the NCM is providing seed money for such an initiative in North America, and enrolment figures at the various courses are very high.
