Updated Visa Code to apply from 2 February 2020
The EU is revising its Visa Code in order to facilitate visa procedures for travellers and to respond more effectively to the challenges posed by illegal migration. Finland will start applying the new Visa Code on 2 February 2020 together with other Schengen countries.

Minister Ville Skinnari Leads a Circular Economy Themed Trade Mission to Toronto
Finland’s Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Mr. Ville Skinnari visited Toronto on December 2nd with a Finnish business delegation. During the visit, he met with Canada’s Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Mr. Jonathan Wilkinson. In addition to a bilateral meeting, both ministers delivered speeches at a business conference organized by Business Finland. In his speech, Minister Wilkinson announced that Canada will be hosting the World Circular Economy Forum 2020 in Toronto, September 29 - October 1. The Forum is founded by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. The minister’s visit also included the official opening of Business Finland’s new Toronto office.

Introducing Chad Eggerman, Honorary Consul of Finland in Saskatoon
Our article series introducing Honorary Consuls of Finland in Canada continues with Chad Eggerman. Mr. Eggerman was appointed as the Honorary Consul of Finland in Saskatoon in 2013. In 2015, the Northwest Territories were added to his mandate. Finland is very close to Eggerman’s heart as he called it home for almost seven years and is married to a Finn.

Introducing Heikki Sairanen, Honorary Consul of Finland in Winnipeg
Second one in our article series introducing the Honorary Consuls of Finland in Canada is Heikki Sairanen. Mr. Sairanen was appointed as the Honorary Consul of Finland for Winnipeg in 1997. From his location in Winnipeg, he has helped Finnish companies establish businesses in Manitoba for decades.

Introducing Jacques Darche, Honorary Consul of Finland in Montreal
We begin our series of articles introducing the Honorary Consuls of Finland in Canada with Jacques S. Darche. He was appointed as the Honorary Consul of Finland for Montreal in 2018. Darche is an active member of Finland’s foreign affairs network. From Montreal, he helps Finnish companies establish businesses in the province of Quebec, especially in the Greater Montreal area.
