Advance Polls in Canada in Finnish Municipal Elections

The Finnish municipal elections have been re-scheduled and voting will take place in June. Right to vote is based on domicile on record in the Finnish population register. All persons over 18, whose municipality of residence is in Finland are eligible to vote.

We recommend voting by mailLink to another website., because Covid-19 related restrictions by local authorities may result in unexpected closing of polling stations.  Please order the voting material as soon as possible so that voting is possible in all circumstances.  Voters who are not within reasonable distance from the advance polling stations should also order the voting material in good time.  If you already received you voting package, it can be used for voting as is, no need to re-order.  Same applies to voter registration cards.

Voting day in Finland is June 13, 2021.  Advance polls in Canada take place at the embassy in Ottawa and honorary consulates in Vancouver and Toronto during the first week of June as follows:

When voting at the advance polls in person, you must have with you a valid piece of government-issued photo I.D. If you received the voting notice in the mail, please bring it also.

 If the polling stations have to closed due to restrictions by local authorities, this will be posted on the embassy web site and social media.
