(Karaokeparatiisi), available for streaming Sunday November 20 at 3 am until Tuesday November 22 at 3 am(Link to another website.).

The in-person screenings all take place November 18 at 8.30 pm local time in Ottawa(Link to another website.), Toronto(Link to another website.) and Vancouver(Link to another website.).

Karaoke Paradise is only starting its tour of festivals but has already been noticed by major cinema publications.  It has also been shortlisted for the European Films Awards, to be announced in December.

Einari Paakkanen delves deeper into the often maligned and ridiculed pastime to show the other side of karaoke.  When researchers in Finland asked what karaoke singing means to people,  the top reasons given were the “joy of being together,” getting away from everyday life, as well as the chance to create joy in the lives of others. It can also help cope with what life has dealt you while connecting with an incredibly supportive community of singers.
