Nordic Collaborations

An ongoing photography project by artists Riitta Ikonen and Karoline Hjorth explores how modern humans relate to nature part of the Nordic Collaborations exhibit.

Since 2011 Finnish artist Riitta Ikonen(Link to another website.) and her Norwegian colleague Karoline Hjorth(Link to another website.) have been working on Eyes as Big as Plates(Link to another website.) photographing retired people exploring their relationship to nature.  Todate, the exhibit in its various stages has been shown at numerous galleries around the world.

Nordic Collaborations(Link to another website.) are also part of Nordic Bridges(Link to another website.), a year-long cultural initiative fostering cultural exchange between the Nordic region and Canada.

Karoline Hjorth and Riitta Ikonen talk to the Finnish Institute in UK and Ireland about Eyes as Big as Plates(Link to another website.) while the exhibit was at the Barbican in London, England.

Admission is free, gallery hours: 

Tuesdays to Sundays, 12–6pm and Holiday Mondays, 12–6pm
