Opening remarks will be given by professor Anu Muhonen from the Finnish Studies programme at the University of Toronto and  Chief Archvist Piret Noorhani of the Museum of Estonians Abroad,  VEMU(Link to another website.).   In 2019, Finnish-Canadian  Matti Palonen(Link to another website.)  and Lithuanian-Canadian visual artist and musician Jurgita Žvinklytė formed their band  Honeypaw(Link to another website.).  Their musical inspiration lies in the traditional music of Finland and the Baltic region.  Matti Palonen's music making may be based on traditional instruments but he concentrates on making the music accessible and of today.  He also builds traditional Kantele and related instruments and offers workshops as well as perfoming in several bands, and from time to time in the TTC subway stations.

The programme is based on music collected in Ingria in the 1800s and early 1900s. A major source for this material is the Estonian Folklore Archives.
