Finnish banknotes – history and design

The main poster of the Exhibition. Total of 60 pieces

Bulgarian-Finnish friendship society decided to use a distinctive way to promote the Independence of Finland. We chose to trace the history of Finland through its banknotes.

The exhibition, however, went beyond the field of numismatics and marked the highlights of Finland’s political and cultural life. It covered the period from XIX century till the end of 2002, when Finland accepted the Еuro. Apart from recalling common historical data, it also revealed slightly known facts about the life of Finnish people and development of the Finnish society during that period. For the first time ever, Finnish history is showed through its national currency.

The location of the exhibition - The bridge of love, National Palace of Culture, Sofia, Bulgaria
