The Fencer – presented by The Embassy of Finland and the ANU Film Group
The ANU Film Group in partnership with the Embassy of Finland will be showing the Finnish film entry to the 88th Academy Awards The Fencer (2015). It is a compelling film based on the life story of an Estonian fencer in post-war Europe. He gives a group of children hope and something to believe in, but in doing so he puts his life at risk. Easter festivities with a Finnishing touch – the annual Finnish Festival in Australia
This Easter, the 51st Finnish Festival was held by the Finnish Society of Melbourne in Altona. The annual Festival (previously known as the Easter Games) gathers Finnish emigrants and their descendants as well as Australian friends from all around Australia to compete in both cultural games and sports and to spend quality time with lifelong friends during the Easter time.

It all started with floorball: How a sports hater became a sports embracer

Linda Liukas on creativity, innovation and the world of technology
Linda Liukas is a prominent figure in the computer programming world and is working with educators around the world to change the way people think about computer programming. She's the founder of Rails Girls, "a global phenomenon teaching the basics of programming for young women all over the world", was named the Digital Champion of Finland by the EU Commissioner for Digital Agenda and her TED Talk "A delightful way to teach kids about computers" has over 1.5 million views.

The Embassy of Finland in Canberra is testing a mobile passport station in Brisbane, Wellington and Auckland
The Embassy has received the light version of the mobile passport station. For the first time the mobile station will be used to issue passports in Brisbane, Wellington and Auckland. As it is the first time that the mobile passport station has been used, the Embassy would appreciate patience and understanding from customers.
