Finnish Equality and Environmental policy, as seen by two Australian girls
For the third time, the Embassy of Finland took part in Girls Run the World -program where two young women, Sasha and Grace, came to the embassy to take over for a day. They learned about Finnish diplomacy and culture and experienced the traditional Finnish sauna, albeit non-traditionally in the middle of a working day and finally, they wrote an article of what they had learnt during the day.

The Finnish National Agency for Education EDUFI offers scholarships for Australian nationals in the academic year 2020-2021. The grants are intended for doctoral level post-graduate studies and research in Finnish universities and public research centres.

Embassy of Finland switching off lights to save precious possum
Embassy of Finland in Canberra is taking part in Zoos Victoria's Lights Off for Moths -initiative to save endangered Mountain Pygmy possum. The embassy has committed to switching off main outdoor lighting, leading the way for the other embassies and high commissions to come onboard.

Timeout brought together people across generations to discuss climate change
On September 30 the Embassy of Finland had the honour to host the first-ever Timeout discussion in Australia by asking the participants “What stops us from listening to the youth in climate change discussion?” The event was held as part of the EU Climate Diplomacy Week, celebrating Finland’s climate commitments during its Presidency of the Council of the EU. The event brought together climate activists, politicians, researchers, experts and other influencers across generations. The goal was to reach a dialogue in which everyone’s views were valued and taken into account.
