Position Available: Property and Office Services Attendant and Driver

Would you like to join our small Embassy team representing Finland, one of the most innovative countries in the world? We are employing a Property and Office Services Attendant and Driver for an initial one-year contract, starting September 30th, 2019 (negotiable). We offer challenging, diverse, and independent duties. We are looking for a self-starter with a dynamic attitude and excellent attention to detail.

The Role:

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Mission, the Property and Office Services Attendant and Driver plays an important role in supporting daily operations of the Embassy.

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Hands-on maintenance of the Embassy building and the Ambassador's residence
  • Obtaining quotes and engaging tradesman for more demanding maintenance duties
  • All aspects of service provision including tendering and negotiating contracts
  • Supervising the performance of outsourced service contracts
  • Assisting in office services and the procurement of office equipment and consumables 
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the gardens and green areas 
  • Assisting in all events the Embassy arranges
  • Official driver for the Ambassador and other diplomatic needs; and
  • Other duties requested by the Head of Mission.

Skills and Experience:

  • Have prior experience in a facilities/property management role-
  • Have an in-depth understanding of local WHS legislation and the ability to identify and remedy any outstanding issues in a timely fashion.  
  • Be able to maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Be proactive and able to complete physically demanding work with minimal supervision
  • Be proficient in general office administration and information management 
  • Be willing to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekend work 
  • Must be able to obtain an AFP Police Check and Finnish security clearance; and
  • Must have a current Australian driver’s license with no criminal driving offences and be confident driving a range of different vehicles.
