Omien suomalaisten sukujuurien selvittäminen
Ulkomailla asuu monia suomalaisia, jotka ovat vuosien mittaan menettäneet yhteyden omiin sukulaisiinsa Suomessa. Heillä saattaa olla usein tarve selvittää omien suomalaisten sukujuuriensa taustat. Tähän liittyen Canberran suurlähetystö saa useita yhteydenottoja, muttei lähetystö tarjoa sukututkimuspalveluita. On olemassa kuitenkin useita eri sivustoja, joiden tietojen avulla omien sukujuurien äärelle voi olla helpompaa päästä.

They often would like to reconnect with their roots and as an Embassy we receive a number of enquiries about this, asking for help tracking down long lost relatives. It all started with floorball: How a sports hater became a sports embracer
Floorball. Perhaps not as well known in Australia as it should be, but definitely an essential part of Finnish culture. From initial misconceptions about the sport (ranging from 'Floorboard' to sali'brandy') to an established and growing floorball scene in Australia, we had a chat to the Australian Floorball Association founder Rainer Martiskin to iron out any potential misunderstandings and learn more about the sport!

Tekes ja Finpro yhdistetään, ulkoministeriön rooli vienninedistämisessä vahvistuu
Innovaatiorahoituskeskus Tekes ja kansainvälistymispalveluja tarjoava Finpro yhdistetään työnimellä Business Finland kulkevaksi uudeksi toimijaksi. Business Finland kokoaa saman katon alle kaikki innovaatiorahoitukseen, vientiin, investointeihin sekä matkailun edistämiseen liittyvät palvelut. Uuteen organisaatioon siirtyy noin 600 asiantuntijaa.

Linda Liukas on creativity, innovation and the world of technology
Linda Liukas is a prominent figure in the computer programming world and is working with educators around the world to change the way people think about computer programming. She's the founder of Rails Girls, "a global phenomenon teaching the basics of programming for young women all over the world", was named the Digital Champion of Finland by the EU Commissioner for Digital Agenda and her TED Talk "A delightful way to teach kids about computers" has over 1.5 million views.

The Embassy of Finland in Canberra is testing a mobile passport station in Brisbane, Wellington and Auckland
The Embassy has received the light version of the mobile passport station. For the first time the mobile station will be used to issue passports in Brisbane, Wellington and Auckland. As it is the first time that the mobile passport station has been used, the Embassy would appreciate patience and understanding from customers.
