Finnish Festival 2022

This year the Canberra Finnish Society has the pleasure of hosting the 54th Finnish Festival at Easter, 15-17 April 2022.

Finnish Festivals in Australia are held under the umbrella of the Australasian Federation of Finnish Societies and Clubs (AFFSC).

The venue is Weetangera playing fields, Southwell St, Weetangera.

Golf is an official competition and will be played at Magpies Golf Club, Stockdill Dr, Holt.

Official competitions at Weetangera oval will be Finnish baseball, mölkky, kyykkä, cross country running and walking, and a traditional children’s drawing competition. To participate in these official events, including golf, you will need to be a member of a Finnish Society or Club that is a member of AFFSC. To register for the official competitions, please contact your own society or club, who will arrange the registration. You will need to do this as soon as possible.

Unofficial events planned are wife carrying, gumboot throwing and children’s games, including an Easter egg hunt on Sunday morning. Registrations for these can be done at the canteen when you arrive at the Festival.

Anyone wishing to have a stall to sell their goods needs to contact the undersigned. Limited space available.

Note: food and drink stalls are not allowed as the Finnish Society has exclusive rights to these.

During the Festival the Finnish Expatriate Parliament (FEP), Australasian branch will meet to discuss issues relevant to Finnish expatriates.
