Ministers Lintilä and Skinnari to make a virtual export promotion visit to Germany

Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä and Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari will make a virtual Team Finland visit to Germany on 29 October 2020. The aim is to strengthen relations between Finnish and German companies, particularly within the battery industry, the bioeconomy and circular economy, and the digitalisation of health services.

Recovering from the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic requires structural changes, which will enable even closer trade cooperation between Finland and Germany.

In order to mitigate the effects of the pandemic, the governments in both countries have directed recovery funds to the digital and green transition of the economy, in particular. The digitalisation of industry and sustainable economic solutions will play an important role in the future of both countries.

“The electrification of society is a future development in which Finnish expertise and battery minerals have a great deal to offer as we work together to build the European battery industry. Finland will also launch a national Artificial Intelligence 4.0 programme to accelerate the introduction of artificial intelligence in industrial sectors,” Minister Lintilä says.

This joint Team Finland visit is the first ministerial export promotion event that has been organised only in virtual form.

“The coronavirus epidemic has highlighted the many opportunities that digitalisation also offers for the promotion of exports. Virtual communications enable us to organise export and company-specific promotion events and to showcase Finland’s capabilities in a new and innovative way, which is not tied to a location", Minister Skinnari says.

During the visit, companies will be able to participate in various workshops and business marketing meetings to promote cooperation in the battery industry, bioeconomy, circular economy, the digitalisation of health services and intelligent manufacturing industry.

A business delegation consisting of nearly 100 people assembled by Business Finland will take part in the event. Team Finland is a network of public sector actors providing internationalisation services to Finnish companies. The network provides companies with an unbroken chain of services from advice to financing, and organises international export promotion visits.
