About the site

This website provides information about the activities of and services provided by Finnish missions abroad (an embassy, a consulate general, a consulate or other representation abroad). The mission and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs are responsible for the content of the website.

The aim is to ensure that the content is accurate and up to date. The mission and the Foreign Ministry are not responsible for any expenses or damage incurred by the user because of possible errors in the website content. Nor is the Ministry responsible for any harm caused by a technical failure or by any material linked to and published on the website by external parties.

Copyright to the texts and images published on the website is owned by the mission, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs or the provider of content mentioned in connection with published material.

Use of cookies

The websites of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs use cookies. They are used to enhance the functionalities of the website or to collect data for statistical purposes. Cookies are small text files located in the user's computer that help track the use of the website.

You may manage cookie settings on your browser by either preventing cookies, allowing them only by request, or blocking websites from storing cookies when you close your session. User statistics

User statistics are gathered to improve the service. Such data include, for example: the website from which the user has moved to the service, the most frequently used search words, the time of visit, the IP address, location, used websites, type of browser, and information related to used device.

User statistics are stored in servers located in Finland, and the data will not be combined with other sources of information. The information can be accessed by staff members of the mission and the Foreign Ministry whose tasks include web communications as well as by the Foreign Ministry's contracting partner Oikeat Oliot.

Newsletters and other subscription materials

On some websites of Finland's missions abroad you can sing up for an email newsletter.

The newsletter service has been outsourced to MailChimp and the terms of use and other conditions of MailChimp are applied. The website includes a link to the order form, which is downloaded from MailChimp's service. The subscriber's email address given on the order form is used for delivering the newsletter.  The information is handled only in MailChimp's service and not stored on the um.fi. MailChimp operates in the United States and the data is stored in serves located there. MailChimp may share the information with third parties. Newsletter subscription information can be handled by staff members of the mission and the Foreign Ministry whose responsibilities include tasks related to newsletters.

It is also possible to subscribe to several RSS feeds.

Content by third parties

There are pages on the website for which content is acquired from third parties' services. These include embedded videos, maps and input from social media channels. Third party services and applications provided by them are subject to their respective terms of use and other conditions.
